Eligibility criteria

You may be eligible for the University Student program if you are:

A person with refugee or asylum-seeking background
Enrolled in full-time tertiary studies
Attending university in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, or Brisbane
Completing your studies next year or later. Final year students are not eligible
Completing a degree in one of the following disciplines:
• Science (non-medical)
• Engineering (all disciplines)
• Commerce / Business (all majors)
• Information Technology
• Mathematics
• Law
• Arts

Academic commitment and progress
Motivation to build a professional career
Readiness for workplace learning
Communication and collaboration

Program commitment

There is no cost to participants.

Students are expected to:

Fully participate in program activities
Engage professionally during placements
Commit to preparation and development sessions

Please note: applications for Summer 2026/27:

VIC and SA recruitment is now closed for all degree areas.
NSW recruitment is still accepting applications from business finance students only.
QLD is still accepting applications for all degree areas.

You can still apply in a state and/or degree area that is full and your application will stay on our waitlist for consideration for future intakes, should you meet eligibility criteria. There is no need to submit more than one application.

We will contact you once we reopen for applications in 2027.

Please note that students who will complete their coursework in 2027 are not eligible for the Summer 2027/28.
